Exxon-Mobil gives Northup gas card for 60th birthday
In a gesture sure to indicate her now-defunct political power, Exxon-Mobil, Corp. gave Republican Anne Northup a $60 gas card in commemoration of her 60th birthday. The oil giant said it was only appropriate to recognize each year of Northup's life with $1 worth of gas.
“Anne's influence is now worth, well, about sixty dollars to us,” said Exxon-Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson. “She loves oil, and we love her.”
Northup, who hopes to regain her Congressional seat which now belongs to Democrat John Yarmuth, said she will use the card to fill up 2/3 of the gas tank in her Ford Excursion.
“I'll be honest, with my two stirring defeats recently, I was running on empty,” said Northup, who hopes a widened Interstate 64 will double as a roof to the new downtown arena. “Exxon-Mobil has given me new life. I can drive my Ford now, which was built right here in Louisville by hard-working Louisvillians. Sure, it's not $60 million, but $60 will go a long way in helping Mitch (McConnell) and I tout ourselves as the ‘green' candidates. Sixty-lane Spaghetti Junction, anyone?”
