Pitino: Stuart Miller 'definitely going pro after this year'
Certain to upset an already fragile fan base, University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino said on his radio show last night that he thinks little-used point guard Stuart Miller is likely gone after the season. Miller is averaging 2.5 minutes and 1.3 points a game.
“Stuart Miller, there's no doubt in my mind, he's going pro after this year,” said Pitino, still trying to figure out the mechanics of a man-to-man defense. “Lil' Stu has been a valuable contributor to this team, but we're going to have to move on without him. That's why I went out West this week to get our next point guard.”
Pitino was presumably referring to Peyton Siva, a 5-11 disabled guard from Seattle who does not have a left hand. Pitino and his son, Richard, visited Siva on Monday and, according to Courier-Journal creep recruiting expert Jody Demling, came away impressed.
“Obviously, Rick can't publicly comment on recruits, but when he overheard me say the name ‘Peyton', he smiled and said, ‘great quarterback,'” said Demling, hoping to catch 4 th grader Deshawn Shole at next week's Germantown little league basketball tournament. “Siva sure is the quarterback of his basketball team. Great right arm. The kid has some serious passing ability, if you know what I mean.”
