Willie Williams to become Skoal spokesman

Willie Williams, the former University of Louisville linebacker whose staggering record of 11 arrests keeps him at a slight advantage over Marcus Vick for the honor of most degenerate college football player, has been hired to appear in Skoal commercials.

The former University of Miami standout, dismissed from U of L this week after he was arrested for trying to eat a stash of marijuana, has been hired on a provisional basis, according to a spokesman for the chewing tobacco manufacturer.

Skoal was impressed by this sideshot of Williams
“We have a ‘tough guy’ image as it is,” said Bill Bilkins, Skoal’s senior vice president for marketing. “The guy’s jawline is spectacular. And clearly he can chew.”

Bilkins would not comment on the specifics of the agreement, but sources say Skoal hopes Williams can exploit untapped markets, namely the under 25 hip hop listener demographic.

Williams has been the subject of much debate since coming to Louisville on the initiative of Athletic Director Tom Jurich, with pundits wondering not if but when his “thug” image would rear its ugly head.

“I’m not surprised at all by this development,” said Rick Monahan, The Spotted Bass’s independent analyst for crime in collegiate sports. “You’re talking about a guy who tried to eat weed. As his colleagues on the U of L defense should know, you can’t just suddenly make things disappear, despite convincing yourself otherwise.”

The Spotted Bass was able to contact Williams’s dealer, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“Ya know, most users don’t want to be known,” he said. “He said he played ball, which is believable ‘cause he’s a big dude. Then, he said he played defense for U of L. He had to be playin’ me, right? To feel him out, I asked what happened against the ‘Cuse. He said he didn’t know, but they’d work it out, Cassity is a good coach. That’s when I started to believe who he was.”

Williams was unavailable for comment.
