West Virginia fans set world record for largest 'famly runion'
One West Virginia family set a world record for the highest attended family reunion in history Thursday night at the West Virginia-Louisville football game. The Jones family turned out in droves, with 60,992 of its members making the trip to Morgantown. West Virginia won the game, 38-31.
Before the reunion, Aunt Betty Jones passed out gold family reunion t-shirts, which consisted of the words "Mountanear Famly Runion" and a picture of a single tree stump. The family saw an exciting game between two evenly matched teams that came down to the last minute.
"Uncle Rich (Rodriguez) called a heckuva reunion, but it was Cousin Pat (White) who made the play there at the end to win it," said Jason Jones, a mixed-race Mountaineer fan. "I just love comin' to Milan Puskar Stadium because everyone just feels like family and there's a good number of handicap seatin'. And, usually, we win."
Like most family reunions, however, the get-together was not without some controversy. Mike Jones refused to talk to his brother Brian Jones, who is rumored to be having an affair with Mike Jones' cousin and girlfriend, Melissa Jones, who is rumored to be connected in a lesbian relationship with Becky Jones, who is rumored to be having an affair with Mike Jones to get back at Melissa Jones for "cheating" on her with Mike Jones.
Before getting in line to help himself to a serving of Aunt Barb Jones' potato salad, Mike Jones whispered to Becky Jones that she was his "better 1/3" and glared at Brian Jones in a cross-eyed furor. Brian Jones reportedly crossed his arms and mockingly laughed but decided not to get involved in a physical skirmish.
